Boy riding dolphin on conch shell, 1989.

This sculpture portrays a boy riding a jumping dolphin.  The shell in the boy's hand, a mutual reward for their search, is echoed by a large shell from which a wave emanates.  There is a sense of determination, self-assuredness and playfulness in their action.  "Shell Hunt" draws broadly on classical themes in subject and character, but also is a contemporary statement of man working with nature to better understand and appreciate it.

COMMISSIONS

Bronze bas relief portraying Dr. Edward Jenner, father of the smallpox vaccine, inoculating a child, 1995.

This was commissioned by the Southern Chester County Hospital of Jennersville, PA and is mounted on quarrystone at the east entranceway.  Smaller, 6" medallions are awarded on special occasions to recognize individual physicians who put forth extraordinary effort.
